 | For his keen work Karen Asatryan was honoured with many awards and certificates of appreciation in national and international areas.
His heritage for the future development of the civil life in Armenia has become the Armenian UN Association. With high acknowledgement of the UN values and in the name of promotion of those values in Armenia and around the region in 2005, Karen Asatryan established Armenian UN Association (AUNA) with mission to serve as a two-way bridge for dissemination of values, principles and programs of UN in Armenia and of Armenian values, traditions and cultural heritage through the UN structures and programs.
Armenian UN Association headed by Karen Asatryan in 3-years time made an impressive progress becoming one of the key organizations in the civil life of Armenia and the generator of bright ideas. In accordance with international principles, AUNA has become the active defender and promoter of human rights, the NGO to spread ideals of non-violence and peace building, the bridge of cooperation between local and international NGOs.
Armenian UN Association has become successful in more than 40 projects earning its significant place in the national, regional and international areas. In 2006 by the great efforts of Karen Asatryan AUNA became the respective member of the World Federation of UN Associations (WFUNA). In the ensuing years AUNA started its membership in Anti-Trafficking NGO Network of UNDP Armenia, Youth and Tolerance Network of UNDP Armenia, CRINGO, also earned the status of Partner NGO with UN DPI Armenia and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the RA.
Around the axle of AUNA missions Karen Asatryan gathered hundreds of bright young people involving them in many projects of which the most known are Model UN Conferences, Annual Chess Festivals, Confidence and Peace building projects. Those programs strengthened our country with well-informed and skilled young people.
Karen Asatryan's immeasurable loyalty and dedication created good traditions of civil culture in Armenia.
Karen Asatryan's enormous work in the civil life of Armenia in general and AUNA, in particular, awards him with a respective place among the outstanding leaders in the history of civil society in the Independent Republic of Armenia.
